The current phase of the project (2016-2017) is divided into four parts:
1) Meetings of National Reflection Groups (May-June 2016)
National Reflection Groups (NRGs) in ten EU Member States will debate key policy challenges (the migration/refugee crisis, internal and external security, as well as economic and social challenges).
2) Transnational Events (Autumn 2016)
The National Reflection Groups will be brought together in transnational dialogues, the main objective being to promote the understanding of the situation in other EU Member States and to explore potential common grounds between the NRGs .
3) Meetings of National Reflection Groups (early 2017)
After the transnational exchanges, the NRGs will come back together at national level to reflect the transnational debates in the drafting of the country reports.
4) European Reflection Group (Q2 2017)
The European Reflection Group will elaborate the details of a wider ‘package deal’ to equip the EU with the tools it needs to meet the internal and external challenges it faces, while also taking into account the diverse interests of its member states and citizens.
The ideas and recommendations included in the final report will be presented to key policy-makers in Brussels and the EU member states, and feed into the debate after French and German elections in 2017.
