Andrew Duff

Former Member of the European Parliament, Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe

Andrew Duff was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire on 25 December 1950. He studied at Sherborne School, Dorset; University of Cambridge; Université Libre de Bruxelles.

He has previously worked for the Hansard Society for Parliamentary Government and the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. From 1993-99, Andrew was the Director of the Federal Trust for Education and Research, London. He was a councillor for the City of Cambridge from 1982-1990, and Vice-President of the Liberal Democrats 1994-1997. Andrew was awarded an OBE in 1997.

He is a member of the EU Convention on the Charter of Fundamental Rights 1999-2000. He was the Chairman of the Liberal caucus to the Convention on the Future of Europe 2002-2003 and acted as a representative of the European Parliament to the Intergovernmental Conference in 2007. He is a Founding member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
