Member of the Constitutional Court of Italy; former Prime Minister of Italy; former Vice President of the Convention on the Future of Europe
Giuliano Amato is Professor Emeritus at the European University Institute in Florence and, since September 2013, a member of the Constitutional Court of Italy. He has been member of the Italian Parliament for 18 years (1983-1994/2001-2008), Treasury Minister, Minister of Interior and Prime Minister of Italy (1992-1993 and 2000-2001); he also headed the International Commission on the Balkans (2003-2005) and was Vice President of the Convention on the Future of Europe.
Mr. Amato is Honorary Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and currently President of the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana and of the Scuola Superiore S. Anna di Pisa. He also chairs the Scientific Board of Astrid and the International Advisory Board of the Fondazione Italiani Europei. He has written books and articles on antitrust, personal liberties, government, European integration and humanities.
