Citizens' advisory group in Pécs
The Citizens’ Advisory Group in Hungary took place on 25 January 2014 in Pécs. It was organized by Partners Hungary Foundation, a non-profit organization dealing with conflict resolution, mediation and the culture of cooperation for the last 20 years.
26 randomly selected participants took part in the Citizens Advisory Group, with a majority of them (50%) voting for the second strategic option, “Consolidating past achievements”.
The consultation took place in an open atmosphere. Participants challenged the ideas of one another but also presented their own ideas.
Throughout the whole meeting, a majority of participants expressed concern about the availability of job opportunities. Their strongest expectation from the EU concerns the creation of stable job opportunities. Another important expectation was the fight against corruption. Overall, citizens did not favor a strong influence of the EU. They also expressed the need to control the effective use of EU funds and the national budget.
