The first meeting of the Advisory Group in the new phase of the New Pact for Europe (NPE) project took place on Wednesday 28 September 2016 in Brussels. The meeting was chaired by Herman Van Rompuy, President Emeritus of the European Council and former Prime Minister of Belgium, and President of the European Policy Centre (EPC). 

On the occasion of this first meeting, a short presentation of the new phase of the NPE project was done, followed by a presentation of initial results of the ten first National Reflection Group meetings. The members of the Advisory Group exchanged views on the framework and process of the project, and had a stimulating discussion on the State of the Union and on the key threats and challenges.
