Andrew Duff

Former Member of the European Parliament, Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe

Andrew Duff was a Liberal Member of the European Parliament from 1999-2014 and President of the Union of European Federalists between 2008 and 2013. He is currently a Visiting Fellow at the European Policy Centre (EPC). Before becoming an MEP, Andrew Duff was Director of the Federal Trust for Education and Research (1993-1999), London. 

He was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire on 25 December 1950, and studied at Sherborne School, Dorset; University of Cambridge; Université Libre de Bruxelles.

He has previously worked for the Hansard Society for Parliamentary Government and the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust. He was a councillor for the City of Cambridge from 1982-1990, and Vice-President of the Liberal Democrats 1994-1997. Andrew was awarded an OBE in 1997.

He was a member of the EU Convention on the Charter of Fundamental Rights 1999-2000. He was the Chairman of the Liberal caucus to the Convention on the Future of Europe 2002-2003 and acted as a representative of the European Parliament to the Intergovernmental Conference in 2007. He is a Founding member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
