Helen Wallace

Emeritus Professor, European Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science

Professor Helen Wallace became a Centennial Professor in the European Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science in September 2007 and became an Emeritus Professor in 2010. She is also Honorary Professor at the University of Sussex.

Previously she held posts at the European University Institute, the University of Sussex, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, the Civil Service College and UMIST, and she also directed the Economic and Social Research Council's 'One Europe or Several? Programme' (1998-2001). She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in June 2000, and served as its Foreign Secretary and International Vice President from 2011 to 2015.

She has had visiting assignments at universities and research institutes across Europe and in the United States. She is a leading expert on the politics of European integration, on which she has authored and coauthored numerous publications. She also contributes to public debates on European issues and periodically acts as an adviser on European policy to public bodies in the UK and to the European Union institutions.
