Loukas Tsoukalis

President of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP); Professor of European Integration at the University of Athens

Loukas Tsoukalis is the President of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and a Professor of European Integration at the University of Athens. He is also a Visiting Professor at King’s College in London and the College of Europe in Bruges.

Loukas Tsoukalis was born in Athens. He studied economics and international relations at the University of Manchester, the College of Europe in Bruges, and the University of Oxford where he obtained his doctoral degree. He taught for many years at Oxford University (University Lecturer in International Relations and Fellow of St. Catherine’s College and St. Antony’s College). He later became Professor at the European Institute of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also taught at the European University Institute in Florence and at Sciences Po in Paris. He is a former Special Adviser to the President of the European Commission.

He is the author of several books: "The New European Economy" and "What Kind of Europe?" published by Oxford University Press (OUP) and translated into several languages. He is the joint editor and author of the concluding chapter of "The Delphic Oracle on Europe: Is there a Future for the European Union?" (OUP, 2011). He is a regular contributor to the Sunday edition of the newspaper Kathimerini.
