Roberto Gualtieri

Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament, Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats

Roberto Gualtieri is the Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament.

He has been a member of the European Parliament negotiating team for the setting-up of the EEAS (2010), the Fiscal Compact (2011) and the Van Rompuy working group for a genuine EMU (2012).

He graduated in literature and philosophy. He has a research doctorate (PhD) in contemporary history. He is currently an associate professor in contemporary history, at 'La Sapienza' University, Rome and he is the deputy director of the Gramsci Institute Foundation.
