Sylvie Goulard

Member of the European Parliament, Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe

Sylvie Goulard is a Member of the European Parliament since June 2009 in the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). She is a Member of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) and the ALDE coordinator and spokesperson for the ALDE group on these issues. She is also a member of the Delegation for relations with the United States and a substitute member of the Constitutional Affairs Committee (AFCO). 

During mandate 2009-2014, she was rapporteur for the legislation creating the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB), the legislation creating sanctions for Member States of the Eurozone in the event of violation of the "economic governance" rules (one of the "6-pack" texts), and a European Parliament initiative report on Eurobonds. During the current mandate she was rapporteur for the European Parliament initiative report on Commission’s role in the framework of international financial, monetary and regulatory institutions and bodies, and for the review of economic governance framework.

She has worked at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with Romano Prodi as a member of the group of political advisors when he was president of the European Commission. From 2006 to 2010, she was President of the European Movement - France. 

She authored numerous books (a. o. "Goodbye Europe", Flammarion, 2016 ; "Europe : amour ou chambre à part", Flammarion,  2013 ; "L'Europe pour les Nuls", Editions First, 2007 & 2009) and is the co-author, with Mario Monti, of "De la démocratie en Europe" (Flammarion 2012).
